Protector’s Enclave

The old city core suffered the least destruction from the eruption of Mount Hotenow in the Year of Knowledge Unearthed (419 NR, 1451 DR), so when Dagult Neverember came to rebuild Neverwinter in the Year of the Fourth Circle (442 NR, 1474 DR), he made his headquarters in the Hall of Justice. In the years since, he has spent enormous amounts of money rebuilding the city. As a result, nowhere else in Neverwinter will you find the sort of urban atmosphere, sound infrastructure, and public safety as you will in the Protector’s Enclave.

Nonetheless, the sort of lawlessness and dissidence seen in other parts of the city, like the Blacklake District across the river, are not tolerated here. The people living under the Lord Protector’s aegis are grateful for his benevolence and generosity, and will not allow outsiders to speak ill of him in their presence.

The Wall separates the Protector’s Enclave from the Chasm. Defending the wall is New Neverwinter’s top priority. Originally built by the survivors of Neverwinter in the dark days following the cataclysm, the Lord Protector has helped to improve its defenses and lent his mercenaries to aid in its defense. While many native Neverwintans continue to serve on the Wall and often take a great deal of pride in doing so, some of them do not appreciate all the Lord Protector has done to help in this, seeing him instead as an interloper, and his mercenaries as foreign thugs. The Wall demands every Neverwintan to work together, and so, unlike the rest of the Protector’s Enclave, such foolishness must be tolerated there to a certain degree, so long as it does not distract from the primary mission of protecting Neverwinter.
