Aribeth de Tylmarande
Aribeth de Tylmarande came from the village of Thundertree. Her family was slain in an orc attack that destroyed the village, but she was saved by a mysterious stranger that she felt either was sent by, or was himself, he god of justice, Tyr. Aribeth dedicated her life to the god’s service thereafter, becoming a noted paladin. She became the right hand of Nasher Alagondar, but ultimately betrayed him and Neverwinter, leading a Luskan army in a crushing invasion in the Year of Wild Magic (340 NR, 1372 DR) before she was defeated by Ander Brightwood.
Some of the de Tylmarande survived, though the shame of Aribeth’s betrayal continues to hang over them. Her grandniece Seldra de Tylmarande, for example, attempted to pass herself off as the “Lost Heir” of Nasher Alagondar recently in a misguided attempt to restore her family’s honor. In the city’s lore, Aribeth is a hated villain. Some of the Sons of Alagondar try to tie her name to Dagult Neverember in their propaganda against him, for instance.
